The Statutory Guidance for licensing of Pet Sellers and Dog Breeders has been amended to reflect the recent introduction of the third party sellers ban on puppies and kittens. You will find the Guidance for Pet Sellers here and the Guidance for Dog Breeders here

Local Authorities will now have to ask sellers if they bred the puppies and kittens themselves and for them to prove that even if bred outside of England. The public should be made aware of the DEFRA campaign on how to get a puppy safely which includes seeing it interacting with its mother, visiting the puppy and seeing it in its home with the rest of the litter and using a Puppy Contract amongst other ways to avoid being tricked by an illegal seller.
